Donors, Friends, Club Members, and Volunteers,

There has been some confusion regarding a recent news article that addressed the potential closing of the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Durham. While we bear a similar name, the Salvation Army Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Durham are two completely separate organizations. Our Club, located at 808 E Pettigrew St., is alive and well. In fact, we recently announced our expansion to Chapel Hill, where we are now serving students at Northside Elementary.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Durham, formerly the John Avery Boys & Girls Club, has been open since 1939, and with the continued support of people like you, we will remain unwavering to help children who need us most.

We have an incredible autumn ahead and we welcome all volunteers and donors to get involved. Not only will we be offering some outstanding programs after school, but our Annual Great Futures Gala will be taking place on November 5th at the Durham Convention Center. The President of Tuskegee University, Dr. Brian Johnson, will be our Keynote Speaker, and NFL stars Terrence & Torry Holt will be making a special presentation. The emcee for the evening will be the Grammy & BET nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Eric Roberson!

Tickets and sponsorships for the gala are now available. Contact Benay Hicks at bhicks@durhambgc.org or 919-687-4517, ext. 22. Click here for more information.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our organization. We hope to continue to grow and help the youth of Durham and Orange Counties for many years to come.

Sincerely,
Jerome Levisy
