Thank you for your interest in volunteering!

There are four volunteering categories that are ideal for energetic and responsible students, mid-career professionals and older adults. Join us for an opportunity to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties expand and improve its services.

URGENT NEEDS:

Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds Yoga program
We need volunteers (ages 19+) to participate in yoga alongside youth and help keep kids calm and focused. Yoga is led by certified instructors. Volunteers must have filled out the application (below), passed a background check, and completed volunteer orientation. Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds is on Tuesdays & Thursdays. During the summer, classes will be in the mornings between 9-11 AM. Contact Benay Hicks at bhicks@bgcdoc.org 919-687-4517, x22.

Summer Camp
Throughout the summer we need volunteers to assist in the classroom, play games with Club members, tutor, and accompany them on field trips. Summer hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM, starting June 19 and running until August 11. We are working to accommodate as many children as possible this summer, so we need volunteers to help us in the classrooms.

Private Tutors

We welcome tutors to assist with subjects ranging from beginning levels of math/reading/science to advanced high school levels. Tutors will be paired with a child who has received a C, D, or F in a core subject. We ask that tutors maintain a consistent schedule and volunteer at least once a week for an hour.

Group Projects

We can accommodate groups small and large to help with building-related projects (painting, cleaning, organizing) and special events for the kids (field days, health fairs, presentations, etc).  If you have a group of friends and/or coworkers that are available Monday-Friday to complete a project, please contact Benay Hicks at bhicks@bgcdoc.org; 919-687-4517, x22.
