Gala to be Star-Studded Event

Durham, NC, September 16, 2016– The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Durham (formerly the John Avery Boys & Girls Club) will be holding its largest fundraising event, the Annual Great Futures Gala, on November 5, 2016 at the Durham Convention Center. Each fall, hundreds flock to the dinner to support the local nonprofit, which is dedicated to providing academic and life-skills programming for Durham and Chapel Hill children.

This year, the Boys & Girls Club is inviting community members to “come be a S.T.A.R.” and Support, Transform, Advance, & Reach the youth of Durham and Orange Counties. True to its theme, the event will also be star-studded, as acclaimed individuals from the academic, sports, and music fields are set to grace the stage.

The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Brian Johnson, President of Tuskegee University and former “John Avery Boys Club” member. In addition, a special presentation will be made by Terrence & Torry Holt, local businessmen and NFL stars, and the emcee of the evening will be Grammy and BET nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Eric Roberson. The event will also feature one of their young Club members who will be sharing her story about attending the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Durham.

CEO, Jerome Levisy, expressed excitement over this year’s gala:

“I always look forward to telling our story and sharing our mission with hundreds of supporters at the annual gala. This year is no exception, and I am thrilled to have so many talented speakers and presenters who want to talk to the community about the important work we’re doing. The Durham Club is growing, our programs are better than ever, and we are all excited to honor and support this 77-year-old local organization on November 5th.” – CEO, Jerome Levisy
